Paolo Rotondo new movie 'Orphans & Kingdoms', and help us bring a part of Italian and New Zealand history to world.

Orphans & Kingdoms 2014

Directed by Paolo Rotondo AOTEAROA
In writer/director Paolo Rotondo’s debut feature, three teenagers on the run break into a deluxe Waiheke Island home and find themselves caught in a tense psychodrama with the conflicted owner. Click here to watch the trailer.

"Il mio Film Orphans & Kingdoms farà parte del New Zealand international film festival," Says Paolo. "Il compositore e venuto dall’Italia per registrare degli stupendi pezzi classici e corali.  Quindi con un regista-sceneggiatore italiano e un compositore Italiano si potrebbe dire che il film e quasi una coproduzione."

But there is more from this talented Italian Kiwi:

The Theatre production Strange Resting Places has been invited to represent New Zealand at the Edinburg Fringe Festival, regarded as the most important Theatre Festival in the world, and needs fundings to be able to attend. Strange Resting Places is about the meeting of Italians and the Maori Battalion in WW2, click here to watch a few extracts from this wonderful show, and if you like what to see please make a donation and help bring both theatre and an important part of Italian and New Zealand history to world.

Grazie!

Enjoy Giapo amazing ice creams with a 10% discount!

Dante members can now enjoy Giapo Haute Ice Cream, the best gelato in Auckland, with  a 10% discount! Just present your Dante card next time you are in store!

The best gelateria in town!
Giapo's creative mind is Gianpaolo Grazioli, and we all agree that his ice creams have no equals! Some Italian favorites are Tiramisù, nocciola (hazelnut) and pistacchio (no need to translate that), but there are many more flavours to chose from, and some are truly innovative. Once your selection has been made (usually after a few tastings) your ice cream is topped with elaborated and thoughtful decorations customized for each flavour, and from then on every spoonful (or lick) is a delight! . Of course the Dante team had to taste a 'few' flavours, for research purposes, before writing all this!

Flavia approves!

New Zealanders at the 70th Commemorations of the Battles of Monte Cassino

Prince Harry arriving at NZ Ceremony at Commonwealth Cemetery with NZ Governor General
The 70th Commemorations of the Battles of Cassino were held recently in and around Monte Cassino. Many New Zealanders had travelled to Italy to be part of the  commemorations and to  remember our fathers and grandfather's who fought in these horrific battles in atrocious winter weather over many months before the new Zealand troops headed north with other allied troops ending the Italian liberation campaign in early 1945 at Trieste. There was a large programme of commemoration events coordinated by the Monte Cassino Foundation for Rememberance and Reconciliation.  38 NZ veterans also travelled to Cassino and were the honoured guests at the many special functions. The opening of the Legato  Art Exhibition was held on the 17th May with 30 New Zealand artists presenting works.11 artists travelled from NZ plus 3  artists based in Europe. The Ngati Ranana concert group from London performed at the opening that was officially opened by the New Zealand Ambassador in Rome Dr Trevor Matheson. Also present was the Italian Ambassador in NZ.
