All welcome! There are classes for adults and children, and also a new Italian for Travellers course.

Welcome to New Zealand to the Italian team Ugo (Unite Gareggiamo Ovunque)

 

Welcome to New Zealand to the Italian team Ugo (Unite Gareggiamo Ovunque) to take part to the IBCPC Dragon Boat Festival. The Festival is held every 3 to 4 years under the auspices of the International Breast Cancer Paddlers’ Commission and is an international non-competitive participatory event for breast cancer paddler teams who engage in Dragonboat activities as post breast cancer diagnosis rehabilitation. For the first time since the establishment of IBCPC in 2010, the festival will take place in the southern hemisphere in New Zealand. All the best to our Italian Team!!! Forza Ragazze!!!

Comitato di benvenuto per la squadra italiana che parteciperà alla Dragon Boat Race organizzata dall'International Breast Cancer Paddler's Commission

 

Attenzione italiani ad Auckand: la squadra UGO Unite Gareggiamo Ovunque parteciperà al Festival Mondiale IBCPC Dragon Boat che si terrà dal 10 al 16 aprile al lago Karapiro, organizzato dall'International Breast Cancer Paddler's Commission e riservato alle squadre di donne operate di tumore al seno che utilizzano il Dragon Boat come attività riabilitativa post-operatoria. La squadra, composta da 28 atlete, 3 allenatori, 2 medici, una fisioterapista e 3 accompagnatori, arriverà all' Auckland International Airport martedì 11 aprile alle ore 9.50 con volo Emirates. Se volete unirvi a noi e trovarvi agli arrivi internazionali a quell'ora (magari con bandiere italiane), sarà bello accogliere le nostre atlete e tutta la squadra. Passate parola 💗💗💗

Join us for our monthly colazione at the Dante, and for an early Easter celebration and a taste of Colomba, the Italian Easter cake, plus a second hand book sale and a raffle to win your own Colomba!

Colomba (which means dove in Italian) is the Easter cake that all Italians eat during the Easter period, a bit like Panettone during Christmas time. The cake takes its name from its shape, baked in the form of a dove, which is a symbol of peace, as well as the sign of spring. 

On the day there will be also four different types of Colomba for sale, imported by JK14: two traditional Colomba, without filling or with candied fruits, plus Colomba with chocolate and Colomba with Pistachio.

Italian movie night: Io e te, directed by Bernardo Bertolucci, Friday 24 March

 

Io e te (Me and You) (2012) is Bernardo Bertolucci’s first Italian movie since 1981, and the great director’s final film. Unlike many of his exotic and expensive enterprises Me and You works on a more intimate scale. To escape his overwrought parents, Lorenzo, a 14-year-old loner, tells them that he is going away on a ski trip with school friends. His plans however, are to spend the week hiding out in his apartment building’s abandoned cellar, in the company of his horror and fantasy books and avoiding the pressures of being a "normal" teenager. But an unexpected visit from his worldly older half-sister Olivia changes everything. Their emotional time together will inspire Lorenzo to come to terms with the challenge of casting aside his disguise of troubled youth and prepare him for the next stage of life, while Olivia will also embrace transformation.  Watch the trailer here:

The bitter-sweet comedy tells the story of people who, in the melancholic atmosphere of September, realise that they haven’t achieved their lifelong dreams and ambitions. Francesca has long been in crisis with her husband and confides in Debora, whose life is full of marital misunderstandings. Meanwhile, Sergio is struggling with a young girl eager for all kinds of adolescent experiences, while Francesca’s gynecologist has lost all hope in love.
