Italian School Holiday Programme for children

The School Holiday Programme for children from 5 to 12 years age will be back from 26 to 28 April, from 9am to 1pm. Three days of full programme with games, soccer, volleyball, cooking, workshops and many other fun things, speaking Italian.
The 3 days programme costs $100 - siblings $60. Lunch provided.

Dante's Play on its way!

È ancora un segreto di cui solo pochi sono a conoscenza, il titolo del testo teatrale che Matteo e i suoi studenti stanno preparando nelle stanze della Dante.

Il testo verrà messo in scena con ogni probabilità in un week end nella seconda metà di maggio quindi tenetevi liberi perché ci sarà da divertirsi.

Gli studenti che hanno accettato la sfida di questo laboratorio teatrale sono Diane Mead, Lucy Tapert, Helen Place, Carol Knutson, John Robertson e Warren Shephard.

La recita sarà interamente in italiano. Auguriamogli buona fortuna!

It’s still a secret that only few people know, the title of the play Matteo and his students are preparing in the Dante’s rooms.

The play will be shown in a week end in the second half of May, so, if you don’t have plans yet, make sure you are free: it will be fun!

The students who responded to the challenge are Diane Mead, Lucy Tapert, Helen Place, Carol Knutson, John Robertson e Warren Shephard. The play will be entirely in Italian. Let’s whish them good luck!

Rilevazione impronte digitali per rinnovo passaporto al Consolato di Auckland - Fingerprint scanning for passport renewal at the Consulate in Auckland

La prossima sessione per la rilevazione delle impronte digitali per  il rinnovo del  passaporto avverrà venerdì, 1 aprile, tra le 14,00 e le 16,00 al mio ufficio all'Università di Auckland, 14a Symonds Street (Arts 1 Building), settimo piano, ufficio 747.

La procedura per il rinnovo del passaporto è la seguente:

1. Andare sul sito dell'Ambasciata di Wellington, www.ambwellington.esteri.it  e scaricare e compilare il Formulario di domanda; 

Spedire insieme alla documentazione richiesta il  pagamento delle tariffe consolari (v. "Tariffe consolari") che dovrà avvenire tramite BANK CHEQUE (NON Personal cheque e NON in contanti) a nome dell'Ambasciata d'Italia in Wellington, e una busta "track and trace" per fare rispedire il passaporto quando sarà pronto.

2. Dopodichè, prendere un appuntamento con me per le impronte digitali e lo scan della foto di passaporto, e della firma.

The next session for fingerprint scanning for passport renewal will take place on Friday 1 April from 2-4 pm at my office at the University of Auckland, 14 a Symonds Street (Arts 1 Building) Level 7, Office 747. Contact me via email at auckland.onorario@esteri.it for an appointment.

The procedure for renewal is the following:

1. Go the Italian Embassy website, www.ambwellington.esteri.it  and download the renewal form.

Mail the passport fee along with the required documentation, the payment must be in the form of a BANK CHEQUE (not personal cheque and not cash) made out to the Ambasciata d'Italia in Wellington. Also include a self-addressed courier envelope so that the passport will be mailed directly to you once it is ready. 

2. After you have sent everything to Wellington, make an appointment with me to scan fingerprints, passport photo, and signature

La Biblioteca della Dante si rimette in moto!

La bibilioteca della Dante ricomincia a lavorare a pieno regime!

Con un catalogo di centinaia di volumi, la biblioteca della Dante si presenta come il punto di riferimento per chiunque in Nuova Zelanda sia alla ricerca di un buon libro da leggere in italiano!

Fiction, non-fiction, libri di cucina e di viaggi, saggi, volumi d’arte, testi di storia, di filosofia e di grammatica… E poi riviste, libri italiani tradotti in inglese, romanzi facilitati, testi per bambini e soprattutto moltissimi nuovi arrivi!

Il nostro bibliotecario Matteo si è già messo all’opera per catalogare e riorganizzare gli spazi nella biblioteca con l’intenzione di creare un’area apposita per i nuovi testi.

Matteo sarà anche disponibile, di persona, tutti i giovedì mattina, alla Dante, dalle 11 alle 12, per chiunque voglia incontrarlo o essere consigliato sulle letture, oppure potrà essere contattato via email all’indirizzo matteotelara@gmail.com.

Dante’s library is fully operational again!

With a unique selection of hundreds of volumes, Dante’s Library is the point of reference in New Zealand for who wants to read a book in Italian.

There are fiction, non-fiction books, cooking and travel books, essays, books on art, history, philosophy and grammar books… And then there are magazines, Italian novels translated in English, books for children and many new arrivals!

Our librarian Matteo Telara already started re-organizing the library with the intention to create new shelves for new books.

For who wants to meet him, or ask suggestions about reading level or what to read, Matteo will also be available in person every Thursday morning from 11am to 12am, You can also contact him by email at matteotelara@gmail.com.

Sir John Kirwan elected president of the Dante Alighieri Italian Society of Auckland

Kiwi rugby legend Sir John Kirwan is the new president of the Dante Alighieri Society of Auckland.

He was elected during the society’s 2016 AGM on 20 February.

Sir John has lived in Italy for several years and is a fluent Italian speaker. He is married to Fiorella Tomasi, one of the society’s volunteers and a teacher for the Dante Italian school for children.

“As a holder of both a New Zealand and Italian passport I am honoured and keen to offer my services to the Dante Society of Auckland, whose mission is to promote the Italian language and culture in New Zealand and to cultivate fellowship between Italians and New Zealanders of all backgrounds,” said Kirwan.

“John has been a supporting member of the society for many years now, and we are delighted to have him on our committee holding the president’s position,” said immediate past president Massimo Ciccioni.

The Dante Alighieri Society of Auckland (Società Dante Alighieri Auckland) is a registered charity and Italian language school, affiliated to the international Società Dante Alighieri with headquarters in Rome, Italy.

The Auckland chapter, based at Freemans Bay Community Centre, has been active since 1960 and organises language courses for adults and children, as well as cultural and community events like the Festival Italiano in Newmarket.

Membership to the Dante Society is open to all, Italians and non-Italians. The Society is run by volunteers.

REFERENDUM ABROGATIVO 17 aprile 2016

I cittadini italiani verranno chiamati ad esprimersi sulla possibile abrogazione del comma 17, terzo periodo, dell'art. 6 del decreto legislativo 3 aprile 2006, n. 152 (Norme in materia ambientale), come sostituito dal comma 239 dell'art. 1 della legge 28 dicembre 2015, n. 208 (Disposizioni per la formazione del bilancio annuale e pluriennale dello Stato − legge di stabilita' 2016), limitatamente alle seguenti parole: "per la durata di vita utile del giacimento, nel rispetto degli standard di sicurezza e di salvaguardia ambientale", (norma che prevede che i permessi e le concessioni a esplorazioni e trivellazioni dei giacimenti di idrocarburi abbiano la "durata della vita utile del giacimento").

Un nuovo laboratorio teatrale alla Dante!!!

   

Ve li ricordate?
Era il Dicembre del 2012 quando Matteo e 5 studenti della Dante misero in scena “Sik-Sik, L’artefice Magico”. Adesso Matteo, di ritorno dall’Italia, propone un laboratorio teatrale su un testo che verrà poi messo in scena per tutti gli studenti e gli amici della Dante. Giorno e orari da stabilire insieme agli studenti interessati (probabilmente il venerdì sera o nel week end). Il titolo della rappresentazione è una sorpresa e verrà comunicato agli studenti solo all’inizio degli incontri.   I posti sono limitati (massimo 8 studenti) per cui, se siete interessati, affrettatevi!

It was December 2012, when 5 of Dante's students performed “Sik-Sik, L’artefice Magico”. Matteo, who has returned from Italy, is organizing another theatre workshop. He has chosen a piece that will be shown to Dante’s students and friends; the title of the play is a surprise and will only be revealed to the students at the beginning of the workshop. Days and hours of the course will be decided together with the students who are interested (probably Friday evening or in the week ends). Hurry up, as spaces are limited! ( 8 students max)

Italiani a Melbourne

A gennaio ho visitato la sede del CO.AS.IT. e Museo Italiano Melbourne (convenientemente situati non lontano dal famoso Caffè Brunetti - famoso per la sua pasticceria italiana).

Dopo tanti anni di collaborazione e amicizia virtuale finalmente ho incontrato il collega giornalista, Germano Spagnolo. Germano ha lavorato per Il Globo, il quotidiano italiano di Melbourne ed ora, in pensione, scrive per Il Messaggero di Sant'Antonio, edizione per gli italiani all'estero, e rimane un socio molto attivo della Società Dante Alighieri di Melbourne.

Germano ci ha gentilmente accompagnato alla sede CO.AS.IT dove abbiamo incontrato Ferdinando Colarossi, manager del Centro Risorse per l'insegnamento della lingua italiana nello stato di Victoria. 

Abbiamo poi visitato il Museo Italiano e sede della Italian Historical Society con il Dr Paolo Baracchi. 

Ringrazio tutti per la gentile ospitalità, e per l'opportunità di aver potuto condividere storie 

ed esperienze sull'immigrazione italiana agli antipodi, a sulle realtà che affronteranno le future generazioni di italiani nati all'estero.
