Giovanna (Giovanna Mezzogiorno) is a young mother in an
unhappy marriage. To add to her challenges is the amnesiac
pensioner, Davide (Massimo Girotti), whom her husband brings
home after finding him wandering the streets of Rome. As the
film intersects the present with 1943 Rome, we gradually
discover Davide is a Holocaust survivor who has much in
common with Giovanna-beyond a shared interest in the
culinary arts there is the shared experience of an impossible
love story. Facing windows is a sensory film that blends
romance, mystery and cooking in its exploration of memory and
identity, desire and guilt, and the moral choices we make.
